Happenings

Hk boss is here these 2 days. I had dinner with them yesterday and lunch with them today again. We had Thai food at Thanying Restaurant yesterday evening. Then we had Japanese food in a Japanese Restaurant downstairs at Suntec just now. The food was simply great! Hehehe... But/And I ate too much... =p

Serene will be having her convocation on 13 July. Congratulations! Hahaha... Now, she is pondering whether she should rent or buy the graduation gown... Depending on the number of seat tickets she is entitled to for the ceremony, I am invited to the occasion as well. >.<

Hiong and Pk have booked the tickets for their Hongkong vacation yesterday. Too bad that I wont be able to go with you... Anyway... Have fun, guys! ^-^ Hehehe... Then remember to come back and tell me stories about/after the trip. =p

Haiz... Our computer has gotten virus again. This time, it is even more serious. I cannot clean nor delete it away. Hmm... Shall wait and see how long it will be before it finally die out on me. I probably should just get a new one...

Practicing Listening

Midnight phone calls stir a mother's heart. We all know what it's like to get that phone call in the middle of the night. This night was no different. Jerking up to the ringing summons, I focused on the red, illuminated numbers of my clock.

Midnight. Panicky thoughts filled my sleep-dazed mind as I grabbed the receiver. "Hello?" My heart pounded, I gripped the phone tighter and eyed my husband, who was now turning to face my side of the bed.

"Mama?" The voice answered. I could hardly hear the whisper over the static. But my thoughts immediately went to my daughter. When the desperate sound of a young crying voice became clear on the line, I grabbed for my husband and squeezed his wrist.

"Mama, I know it's late. But don't . . . don't say anything until I finish. And before you ask, yes I've been drinking. I nearly ran off the road a few miles back and . . ."

I drew in a sharp, shallow breath, released my husband and pressed my hand against my forehead. Sleep still fogged my mind, and I attempted to fight back the panic. Something wasn't right.

"I got so scared. All I could think of was how it would hurt you if a policeman came to your door and said I'd been killed. I want . . . to come home. I know running away was wrong. I know you've been worried sick. I should have called you days ago but I was afraid . . . afraid . . ."

Staying on the line, sobs of deep-felt emotion flowed from the receiver and poured into my heart. Immediately I pictured my daughter's face in my mind, and my fogged senses seemed to clear, "I think ---"

"No! Please let me finish! Please!" she pleaded, not so much in anger, but in desperation. I paused and tried to think what to say. Before I could go on, she continued. "I'm pregnant, Mama. I know I shouldn't be drinking now, especially now, but I'm scared, Mama. So scared!" The voice broke again, and I bit into my lip, feeling my own eyes fill with moisture.

I looked up at my husband, who sat silently mouthing, "Who is it?"I shook my head and when I didn't answer, he jumped up and left the room, returning seconds later with a portable phone held to his ear. She must have hear the click in the line because she asked, "Are you still there? Please don't hang up on me! I need you. I feel so alone." I clutched the phone and stared at my husband, seeking guidance. "I'm here, I wouldn't hang up," I said.

"I should have told you, Mama. I know I should have told you. But, when we talk, you just keep telling me what I should do. You read all those pamphlets on how to talk about sex and all, but all you do is talk. You don't listen to me. You never let me tell you how I feel. It is as if my feelings aren't important. Because you're my mother you think you have all the answers. But sometimes I don't need answers. I just want someone to listen."

I swallowed the lump in my throat and stared at the how-to-talk-to-your-kids pamphlets scattered on my night stand. "I'm listening," I whispered."You know, back there on the road after I got the car under control, I started thinking about the baby and taking care of it. Then I saw this phone booth and it was as if I could hear you preaching to me about how people shouldn't drink and drive. So I called a taxi. I want to come home."

"That's good honey," I said, relief filling my chest. My husband came closer, sat down beside me and laced his fingers through mine.

"But you know, I think I can drive now."

"No!" I snapped. My muscles stiffened and I tightened the clasp on my husbands hand. "Please, wait for the taxi. Don't hang up on me until the taxi gets there."

"I just want to come home, Mama."

"I know. But do this for your Mama. Wait for the taxi, please."

Learning to listen: I listened to the silence . . . fearing. When I didn't hear her answer, I bit into my lip and closed my eyes. Somehow I had to stop her from driving.

"There's the taxi, now." Only when I heard someone in the background asking about a Yellow Cab did I feel my tension easing. "I'm coming home, Mama." There was a click, and the phone went silent.

Moving from the bed, tears forming in my eyes, I walked out into the hall and went to stand in my 16-year-old daughter's room. My husband came from behind, wrapped his arms around me and rested his chin on the top of my head. I wiped the tears from my cheeks. "We have to learn to listen," I said to him.

He studied me for a second, then asked, "Do you think she'll ever know she dialed the wrong number?" I looked at our sleeping daughter, then back at him. "Maybe it wasn't such a wrong number."

"Mom, Dad, what are you doing?" The muffled voice came from under the covers. I walked over to my daughter, who now sat up staring into the darkness. "We're practicing," I answered.

"Practicing what?" she mumbled and laid back on the mattress, but her eyes already closed in slumber."Listening," I whispered and brushed a hand over her cheek.

Grandaunt's Again

Hehehe... I am back from Grandaunt's again!

Grandaunt asked me out on Saturday. However, she would be meeting her friends first before meeting me. Hehehe... In the end, there was a change of plans and I had to join them. Hmm... It was alright, they were all nice old ladies. I dont mind being with them and we had fun together despite our huge age gap. ^-^

I stayed at Grandaunt's that night. Boy was really happy to see me again. He was jumping all over his cage. Hahaha... I let him out and he followed me all over the place. Haiz... It caused me to nearly step on poor Boy whenever I turned back. =p

Grandaunt and I went to Expo's Food Fair with Auntie Sandy and Uncle Henry. Wow... It was so crowded. Hahaha... We can hardly walk our way around! I saw Select's booth... Hmm... I think they are trying to improve... So far, I am impressed with their revamp.

As it was pretty early, Grandaunt suggested going to IMM. Uncle Henry sent us there via the PIE. This is the part I enjoyed most, I love the ride to and fro. Nobody talked much and PIE is such a long expressway. The road seems to go on and on... All the vehicles and buildings passed by and by... I had the refreshing kind of feeling that I did not have for a long time.

Runescape

After a few months, I went back to playing runescape again. Karmel was there for a short while too. Hi Karmel, nice to see you in there! Hahaha... I have yet to complete the dragon slayer quest. Hmm... I need to get some planks before I can proceed. Hehehe... Soon, my character would be able to wear rune armour as well. >.<

Mum was not cooking tonight, and neither was Dad. Hence, Sara and I had our dinner together. We met each other outside the Tampines Mrt Station. I bought my Shilin chicken chop and got Sara her Fillet from McDonald. Oh my... I let her taste my chicken chop and she ate quite a lot. Hehehe... I think she likes them too. Can I say that we are sisters of similar tastebuds?

I feel glad that the weekends are here... Now and then, I am feeling kind of cranky. Since I have no activities planned for the weekends... It will be self-reflection time then? Hehehe... Not a bad idea? ^-^ Coincidently... Thought for today is... 'On a regular basis, take time to relax, to enjoy, to savor life fully. And you'll find that it improves every corner of your world.' Lol...

Good Or Bad

I supposed... The day went well?

There was nobody in the office except Geraldine and me. We worked and of course, we played a little... Hehehe... We took a few photos in the office. Hmm... Pretty good timing? Because Geraldine just had a hair cut a few days ago and I am wearing my favourite pair of pants. Good time passed quickly.

I started to feel not too well on my way home... Maybe exhausted. Hence, I took a cab back. Later, I thought that there was not going to be any dinner... Nobody cooked, nobody seemed to be around and nobody informed me to eat out. Luckily, Dad bought food back. Then I missed a friend's call... Haiz... I hope no more...

Vesak Day Holiday

Hahaha... I am back... Kind of a short holiday at my grandaunt's place. ^-^ I went there on Saturday afternoon and returned home yesterday night. Had a good time. Hehehe... As usual, I would probably gained a couple of kilograms from my stay there. Ate too much!!! Lol...

Boy seemed to grow rather attached to me during my stay there. Hehehe... Had I played with him too much? He would whine for attention and jump about asking to be let out and play whenever I am near his cage. ^-^ Auntie Sandy said that Boy has become fatter than Ice. I did not realise... Is it? Hehehe... But one thing is for sure, he is growing well... Definitely better looking when he first came to Grandaunt's place. Though a Melancholic Prince no more but he is still a Pink Panther. Whenever he is uncertain, he will proceed with caution and walk like the Pink Panther. Adorable, isnt he?

Then on Vesak Day itself, I visited temples with Grandaunt and prayed for blessings for our loved ones. The temples were crowded and the weather was hot. Luckily, we had Uncle Andrew and his girlfriend, Chris, with us. They sent us around the places. Hehehe... No squeezing with others in smelly, hot, stuffy public buses... Yeah! Hahaha...

Grandaunt said that she returned to Malaysia, Kuantan with Auntie Sandy last weekend. Aww... I wish to go too... Then she told me a lot of interesting stories about her trip/cousins. Hehehe... And poor Ice... He was nearly starved to death. Auntie Sandy asked her friend to help her to feed Ice but he forgot.

Somewhere Out There

Somewhere out there
Beneath a pale moonlight
Someone's thinking of me
And loving me tonight

Somewhere out there
Someone's saying a prayer
That we'll find one another
And that meets somewhere out there

*And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star
And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there
If love can see us through
Then we'll be together
Somewhere out there
Out there dreams come true*

*Repeat*

Wealth, Success And Love

A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them. She said "I don't think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have something to eat." "Is the man of the house home?", they asked. "No", she said. "He's out." "Then we cannot come in," they replied.

In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened. "Go tell them I am home and invite them in!" he said. The woman went out and invited the men in. "We do not go into a House together," they replied. "Why is that?" she wanted to know. One of the old men explained: "His name is Wealth," he said pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing to another one, "He is Success, and I am Love." Then he added, "Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in your home."

The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was overjoyed. "How nice!!," he said. "Since that is the case, let us invite Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!" His wife disagreed. "My dear, why don't we invite Success?" Their daughter-in-law was listening from the other corner of the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion: "Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with love!" "Let us heed our daughter-in-law's advice," said the husband to his wife. "Go out and invite Love to be our guest."

The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, "Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest." Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: "I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?" The old men replied together: "If you had invited Wealth or Success, the other two of us would've stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever He goes, we go with him. Wherever there is Love, there is also Wealth and Success!!!!!!"

Nothing Much

Hahaha... I have been pretty consistent in the updating of my blog... Hmm... I guess I dont wish to fall behind now either. I dont really have much stuffs to talk about. Nothing major happened... Just all the same little things that could really get people down at times. Arrrrrgh... I try not to think about them. Hahaha... Small things are accumulating to big stuffs? Alright, alright... Stop!

Mabel sent me a sms yesterday, I am happy to hear from her. Winnie had been online these few days. Glad to see you around. After dinner yesterday, Stella played internet games while Sara and I retreated into our little room. We had a little talk. Uhmm... Am I starting to get/feel cranky again? Opps...

Oh... By the way, I finally found a cartoon that can fit into my side bar... Yeah! Hopefully, this will perk up the atmosphere? ^-^

I Prayed For You

I asked the Lord to bless you
As I prayed for you today,
To guide you and protect you
As you go along your way...

His love is always with you
His promises are true,
And when we give Him all our cares
You know He will see us through.

So when the road you're traveling on
Seems difficult at best...
Just remember I'm here praying
And God will do the rest.

A Day Of Antics

Hahaha... Had lots of fun yesterday. Basically, it is a day of my antics... Sara said that I was very funny the whole day. Erm... Think there was a short circuit in my brain somewhere? Hehehe... I think Hiong Gorgor had more than enough of me for the time being. =p Maybe, it was lucky that Pk was not there... Dont know whether to laugh or cry, the three of them would probably end up rolling on the floor the whole day and dying of exasperation! Haiz...

Hehehe... Apparantly, I am not the most gluttonous one in the family. Yeah!!! How I found out? Stella and Mum went out in the morning and bought lunch back. Upon seeing our lotus leaves wrapped glutinous rice, she kept clamoring... "I want your lotus leaves wrapped glutinous rice! I want your lotus wrapped glutinous rice!" Then Mum chided, "Stella... You have already eaten so dont be greedy." Hahaha...

Hmm... Probably, I would like to pop over to the Library later. Shall see if there are any interesting books to borrow and read. ;) Cya...

Comments From I Dun Exist

Hi I dun exist... Hahaha... Dont worry about the flooding... No problem at all. ;) Anyway, here are the comments she left in my taggy...

"You may not realise, but you are creating your past... Even as you are walking down a street, you are creating a past... And the street becomes part of your past... Good luck with your blog... And that was just a little something for you to think about... I would like to say a little something about "The road of life" too.... On the road of life, there are people who runs ahead without thinking... And people who walks slow and steady... People who run aimlessly, may find themselves end up in some place they shouldn't be... People who walks slow and steady, will never regret their choice in the paths they chose. Oops, grammer error. I think 'never regret the paths they chose' would be better? See you soon, will be back next time... And sorry for flooding..."

Well, I share similar sentiments... Life doesnt allow people to turn back. And consequences are the results of your decisions/actions whichever you might choose. Hence, choose carefully... ^-^ Hmm... I think 'never really regret their paths' might be better? Some people would wish that they had taken the other path when the going gets tough, despite the fact that given them the choice again, they will still choose that they had chosen. Is that considered regret?

The Road of Life

Hahaha... Such coincidence... I met Xiumei when I was on my way home yesterday. She was on her way to meet Hui. Since she was early, she asked to have dinner together. Sorry, Mei... I would love to if I need not rush home to meet my auntie. Next time, alright? Next time, let's meet up with the rest of the girls as well. ;)

I find reading other people's bloggies fun. Here and there... Now and then... I learnt something. ^-^ Hehehe...

The road of life? Hehehe... Personally, I think this term could not be more appropriate. I feel that Life is a road that you can only go on and on... Paths can intertwine one another in certain places. That is when people have to choose and decisions to be made? You cannot turn time back... That is to say you cannot turn and walk in the opposite direction. What you have gone through, you have gone through... What you have missed, you have missed... Hopefully, the path that you have missed taking earlier would intertwine with your current path now so that maybe you can choose that path instead? I deem this as 'Another Chance'...

Interesting Stuffs

Hahaha... First, about The Amazing Race 7... I did not follow the show though I did catch it every now and then on television. I dont know if the Amazing Race broadcasted here is the same series as in the States. Anyway, I got to know how/that Uchenna and Joyce Agu won the 7th series eventually. Congratulations! You deserved the prize. ^-^ Erm... For those who dont know what I am talking about, you can refer to here: Cool Runnings posted by Foxymophandlemama on 12 May 2005.

Second, I came across this interesting blog by Christine: 100 Reasons Why I Hate My Husband. Erm... Words used may seem rather crude... But I think they are well written. ^-^ It shows another facet of Life... I voted for her in The Blogette Award. Maybe, she will win. Hehehe... When I have the time, I am going to check out the other nominated sites as well. Who knows... I might be able to learn a great deal from all those ladies out there...

My Subconscious Mind

Hahaha... I had just taken a tickle test and would like to share the result with you...

Your Subconscious Self
What's Really on Your Mind?
Snow, your subconscious mind is most preoccupied with issues around your family life. On a conscious level, you might already be aware that something is troubling you, or eating up a lot of time when it comes to your family relations. But it's also possible that family issues have been preoccupying your subconscious mind — leaving you with nothing more than a general sense that things just don't feel 100% right in your life though you can't quite figure out why. You may feel slightly bothered by situations or relationships in your family, or you may find that your family just isn't fulfilling you in critical ways you desire. You also might find you spend a lot of time worrying, or thinking about your family members. Whichever feelings hold true, your test results indicate that right now, your subconscious mind is working overtime to resolve the issues confronting you in this area of your life — even if you don't feel aware of it.

Erm... I know or I know not? How true is it, my dear friends? Whatever it is, I dont like it... It is making me really tired.

Fairy Tale

I found the english version of Tonghua. It is one of my favourite song... Hiong's influence? No... I like the song myself. ^-^

English version of Tong Hua:
I have forgotten how long was it, Since I last heard you, Telling me your favorite story. I have been thinking for a very long time, I am beginning to feel paranoid, Did I make any mistakes again? You came and tell me with the tears inyour eyes, That fairytales are all lies. Its impossible for me to be your Prince Charming. Maybe you will not understand, After the moment when you said you loved me, The stars in my sky begin to shine and shimmer. I am willing to be, The angel you love, In the fairytales. Open my arms wide, Let them become wings, To protect you. You have to believe, Believe that we will be like the fairytale, With happiness and joy as the ending...

Life is harsh... This I dont deny. Neither am I refusing to accept reality either... Many people said that I am a dreamer. In fact, I feel I am an even bigger dreamer than the sister who said she was a big dreamer. Who would disagree?

It is my choice... I choose to see the finer things in life instead as I dont wish to lose myself to this world, in this way. Please dont shut your heart because of what you have been through or what you need to go through. Please dont shut yourself. It is difficult, nobody said it is not.

But life can change when your perspective changes... Love is also a choice you can make, from moment to moment... No matter how battered you are, you can be/are still beautiful. It may be under such circumstances that your beauty shines through, ever more brightly... ^-^

By the way, for all my friends' information... Mum went to see her doctor for the confirmation of her operation date yesterday. After some clarification and persuasion from the doctor, she eventually decided to go for the mammotomy instead. The date is set on 10 June in SGH.

Happy Mothers' Day

Happy Mothers' Day to every mother in the world! Hope all of you have the most enjoyable day today. ^-^

Thanks for your compliments, I dun exist. Please feel free to leave messages on my taggy whenever you drop by, alright.

Gracy's Wrinkles came back, after being missing for a few days. She had been so worried about him and was really happy and glad to have him back. However, despite that, Naughty Wrinkles did not manage to escape the big scoldings by Little Gracy. Hahaha...

Yeah... Winnie! Glad to talk to you today. How long has it been since we have a good chat? I told her about Mei's bloggy and gave her the url. Hope that she would drop by both our bloggies soon/frequently. Hehehe... Remember to leave messages at our taggies whenever you drop by too. Oh... By the way, good luck to your upcoming exams, Winnie! Jia you x3! =)

Live With It

Alright... I have done whatever I can. All the scans and updates... Yet, the problem caused has not been fully rectified yet. I simply cannot get rid of those stuffs! Anyway, I should be greatly grateful that the major problem is gone for now. I cannot go anywhere then except for that sickening website. Apart from the discomfort, the computer is still usable and I can surf around now. As Hiong said, "Live with it." I think I should.

I met up with Minghui yesterday evening. We had dinner and shopping. Both of us tried some clothes but did not manage to buy any. We deemed the price still too steep despite the 20% discount. Saw some earrings too. Hehehe... Well, I am pretty crazy about those hanging beads earrings at the moment. =p

Winnie, so glad to hear from you yesterday! Sorry, I was online but could/did not reply because I am busy with work elsewhere. By the time I came back and saw your messsages, you were already gone... Hope you wont mind...

This is very sad... L's husband got fits and was sent to the hospital. After a series of checkups, scans and tests, he was diagnosed with advance stage 4 lung cancer. It had even spreaded to his brain. That is what caused the sudden seizures. Hence, he needs to start treatments as soon as possible. God bless the both of them. Please give them strength...

約定

My auntie lent me a book of hers long ago, written by Jiu Jian, a DJ in one of the radio stations here. It was a compilation of stories from the people who phoned in to talk to him and he delicated this song to the lady in one of the stories...

Beyond The Smiles And Tears

Haiz... I am feeling so sleepy right now. If there is a sudden loud pong in the office, please dont be surprise. Hahaha... It will be just me dropping off my chair! I tried to sleep early yesterday night but the efforts were futile. Hopefully, I will be successful in my attempt tonight?

I bought a tiny piece of jade thingy for my mum to hang on her handphone. It is a little gift for Mothers' Day. I have given it to her and it made her pretty happy. She likes jade. Then I told her that it was a jade Goddess of Mercy but my mum said that it is a jade Buddha. Hahaha... Oh wells... As long as she is happy, be it Goddess of Mercy or Buddha, it does not really matter.

Hehehe... I think 'It Lies Beyond the Smiles and Tears' was written by Sara herself. Talking about melancholic... Perhaps my influence? "Hidden beneathe a thousand smiles, and a thousand tears, there lies an empty room, waiting to be filled..."

Demise Of Dr Wee Kim Wee

I heard from the news that Dr Wee Kim Wee had passed on... This is so sad... I offered my condolences to his family. Dr Wee is very well liked by everybody, inclusive of my parents. They feel that he was the best president among them so far. He was a great man. And I have similar sentiments.

I took an aura photo in the Fu Lu Shou Complex at Bugis yesterday. The photo was filled with purple, blue and white. The person who interpreted the photo for me was pretty accurate. Hahaha... As a chinese saying goes '一针见血'. Haiz...

Dad cooked curry chicken tonight. It must be me who gave him the idea. =p I kept telling him that I smell curry... Curry... Curry! Hahaha... On my way back, I can smell it up the stairs. Then I was wondering whether is it our next door Malay neighbour or is it really us. Hehehe... Argh... I want to go on a diet!!!

New Features

Yeah... I have added a couple of new features in my bloggy. The weather thingy... Singapore weather is so hot! Then the Food for Thought section... I find it pretty interesting. Hahaha... Talking about coincidence... We were talking about 'Being Me' a few days ago and the topic at the website today is 'Be You'. You can check it out.

Serene is making another bloggy. As for me, this will be my one and only. Hmm... I feel that having one good bloggy is enough for me. Hahaha... I just dont have the time and energy to maintain so many. =p

Aww... There is a Malay wedding going on downstairs today. The scrumptious curry smell makes my mouth waters. I keep having the impression that my parents are cooking curry in the kitchen. Oh... I am such a glutton!
