Went to see Dr Kew yesterday... To confirm the day surgery. Think Dr Chee didnt explain that clearly to me that time. I didnt misunderstand her words, did I? Dr Chee said that I can choose to do it during an appointment by numbing the area and cutting it away. Else I can choose to have a day surgery where they can give me the anaethesia to sleep through the whole procedure.
But what I learnt from Dr Kew yesterday was this... I was to have the day surgery if I wanted to cut those excess areas away. For the day surgery, I can choose to have the local anaethesia where they will just numb the area before doing the operation. Or I can choose the general anaethesia where it will make me sleep through the whole procedure. The former meant that I will be aware of the happenings while the latter meant that there will be a tube to help me breath.
I had the former today. Was glad that Dr Kew did the surgery for me and she would be doing the follow up to check on me too. :) Honestly, was so frightened during the procedure but Dr Kew had been very gentle and patient with me... Thanks God!
I reported to KKH surgery centre at 11.45am this morning. Went in and a nurse checked on me, saw that my file was in order, took my blood pressure etc... Then she led me into the changing room where I changed into the 2 pieces surgery robe. Deposited my stuffs into a safe box and started to wait for my turn.
A nurse led me into the surgery room and checked on my details again. My name, IC, drug allergy etc... Then when the doctor came, they asked me to lay on the operating table and prepared the setup. Then the operation began...
Doctor checked the area I was supposed to do the operation and cleaned it up. Then I was given shots of anaethesia around the area. I cannot feel the pain when she cut and sew but I knew they were doing that because I can feel them dabbing and stitching... When all were done, a nurse brought me to the recovery area to rest.
Can start feeling the pain when I was allowed to go home from the surgery centre... Hope the painkillers will last me till the pain is gone...
