Customary Wedding 22nd September 2007

I think I can call the wedding a success... Though there were little hiccups along the way but bascially things were still considered smooth.

The greatest thanks to our Bestman and Bridesmaid, who were also our MCs for the night. Met up only once to discuss about the scripts, afterwhich they were on their own to edit and refine. Bestman helped hubby to go through all the 'trials', wedding and stuffs. Bridesmaid helped me to reapply my makeup and insisted on feeding me small mouthfuls at a time during lunch, least I messed up the makeup. Father-In-Law teased that I was like a baby. Hehe... Initially, I had wished for Aquazone to help me with the tea ceremony at my side, knowing my relatives. Since she did not seem keen, I did not want to force her either. Hence, last minute add on duties for the Bestman and Bridesmaid. Thanks Guys. ^-^

My colleagues came in the afternoon after we had our tea ceremony at my parents' place. Lol... Thought they would not be coming as they were late. Invitation cards said 12 noon and I told them that I would be back at 1-1.30pm, They came at around 2.30pm. Sat around and chatted and had some food. I had a couple of pictures with them before I returned to Dar dar's place. Boss did not come as he had said, last minute golf with some business associates. No choice, had to go because work was more important. He apologised to me when he was back in Singapore. Thanks everybody.

I think nobody had a smoother dinner than us... Probably due to the small number of guests? We had only 10 tables. Dinner started promptly at 8pm and the dinner ended at about 10.30pm. 1st march in with my white gown, 2nd march in with my red kua and send off with my blue evening gown... Changed with hubby's help and the 2nd march in was the only one that made us had 2 dishes to eat when we went back to the table. Managed to eat the whole course, even the yam paste dessert. Hehe... By 11pm, we had retired to our hotel room and getting ready for bed. All the guests had gone home.

The girls came to the wedding dinner. Their table had only 7 person inclusive of 8th Grandaunt. Hope they had enjoyed themselves. 8th Grandaunt was telling us when we went to visit them on Sunday. "We had only 7 persons at our table. The food was great. We finished every dish except for one." And we knew that Eneristar had went to the Bridal Studio and choosen some of her gowns on Sunday. When we went back to return the stuffs. Meichin came over and said, "Hi, your friend came and choose the gown on Sunday." "Really?" "Yep, she said she went to your wedding on Saturday." "Ooo... Hehe... What did she choose?" Unfortunely, she cant/didnt show me. :p Anyway, am happy for Eneristar. If you want the photography on the actual day, dont go through SB. We got the photographer's namecard, it would be much cheaper.

Eve Of Wedding

I couldnt get to sleep... Having free "sauna" in my "furnace" room. Lol... Guess Pk had no choice but to have a panda Dar dar tomorrow. Sayang sayang...

Aunt Sharon is coming to help me cleanse my face, ready for the makeup. She offered to help me do faicals when she knew that I didnt go for any, rushed back after work just to do all that for me. Even give me a set of facial products so that I can follow up at home. Kind and loving unconditionly... Thanks, Aunt!

Cousin Grace will be coming over tomorrow. Or more correctly put, today. I must thank her as well. When Aunt Sharon helped me do facial, she will nag her to put in more ingredients, vitamin C, vitmain E, more mask for me... Gave me a big glass of maruku honey because it will be good for me... Thanks Cousin!

Serene and Alex have been coming back to help me as well. He ferried us around after the Guo Da Li for all the visits and will be helping again on the actual day, she helped Sara to tidy up her eyebrows when she knew that she will be going over to In-Laws with us. Thanks Guys!

Think I better try to go to bed, am feeling very groggy... Hope all will be smooth tomorrow...

Friends

Saw one of my friends' blog...

Called one of them up and she said to meet up to talk... To thrash things out face to face. Initially, it saddened me to see what she wrote... Though I might not be spending as much time as I used to be but I still treasured their friendships a lot. Msn another one... What is 100%? Will one's 100% be another one's 100%? Had been so very blur lately... Am so lost that Pk always said, "You are with me but your heart is not with me..." Dont ask me why, I also dont know why.

Anyway, felt better after all these... Seems to go back a little to the wonderful times we had. Had felt left out when I went out with them - out of place. They had gone through many conversation without me... By the time, I joined them every now and then, I am even more lost... Close friends dont keep unhappiness towards one another. Hopefully, when we meet up the next time, things will improve... Hopefully, I will also go back to normal as well, after tomorrow...

Canon Ixus 860 Is

Got my new camera... Hehe...

Then I heard another good news as well - Serene is holding her customary early next year. How nice! Am very happy for her. Saw how Dar dar and family took photos on those happy moments for remembrance. Hmmm... Want to do the same for lingling too. :)

Came back after dinner to discuss about things for her wedding. Told her to go to Sinagporebrides to search for information. Then discussed about which restaurant we have been and whether the food is good and if they can consider holding there...

Happy happy...

Guo Da Li

We had our very first ritual of the customary wedding called the Guo Da Li last sat.

Things for the Guo Da Li were mostly bought some time ago. Bought them from a stall in the temporary Chinatown market which specialised in selling chinese wedding stuffs. Started tying up the stuffs with red ribbons and pasted with Double Happiness worded red packets onto them last Monday. Packed the honet dates, lotus seeds etc into them as well.

On Saturday morning, everyone woke up early. Dad went to have breakfast and bought back for us. After that, he was anxious waiting for Pk and grandaunt to come. He bought cakes for the guests. Forbided Jiji from siting on the sofa least they become hot when the guests wanted to sit on it.

Gorgor and Didi came along, which was just as well. There were too many things for them to carry back. Hehe... The old coconuts were heavy... There were 10 of them and I still got 4 loose ones at home. Dad bought them from Puala Ubin because the ones we originally didnt look so nice after so long - dried up.

After the Guo Da Li, Dar dar and family went to East Coast Long Beach for lunch and to celebrate. Everyone in the family came, 3rd Uncle, his wife and daughters, 8th Grandaunt, 5th Grandaunt, etc...

As for me, our family went to pay a visit to Grandparents to inform them of the good news - that I am getting married soon. Alex sent us around and we gave him a red packet. Thanks sisters for helping me. And am also thanking all in advance who were helping me on my upcoming big day. Thank you!
