We had our very first ritual of the customary wedding called the Guo Da Li last sat.
Things for the Guo Da Li were mostly bought some time ago. Bought them from a stall in the temporary Chinatown market which specialised in selling chinese wedding stuffs. Started tying up the stuffs with red ribbons and pasted with Double Happiness worded red packets onto them last Monday. Packed the honet dates, lotus seeds etc into them as well.
On Saturday morning, everyone woke up early. Dad went to have breakfast and bought back for us. After that, he was anxious waiting for Pk and grandaunt to come. He bought cakes for the guests. Forbided Jiji from siting on the sofa least they become hot when the guests wanted to sit on it.
Gorgor and Didi came along, which was just as well. There were too many things for them to carry back. Hehe... The old coconuts were heavy... There were 10 of them and I still got 4 loose ones at home. Dad bought them from Puala Ubin because the ones we originally didnt look so nice after so long - dried up.
After the Guo Da Li, Dar dar and family went to East Coast Long Beach for lunch and to celebrate. Everyone in the family came, 3rd Uncle, his wife and daughters, 8th Grandaunt, 5th Grandaunt, etc...
As for me, our family went to pay a visit to Grandparents to inform them of the good news - that I am getting married soon. Alex sent us around and we gave him a red packet. Thanks sisters for helping me. And am also thanking all in advance who were helping me on my upcoming big day. Thank you!
