This flu season was very horrible, I guess the most horrible this far. My whole family was down with flu accompanied with high fever and cough, hubby and babies...
First, Hanhan had fever at about 39 deg. We sent him to Doc Liew who gave him some medicine. But till that night, the fever refused to subside and instead climbed to 39.3 deg. None of us ever had such high temperature before. Moreover, people always said too high temperature can damage the brain. We were worried.
Hanhan refused to take in fluid though we tried to coax him with milk, water... He was also feeling so uncomfortable that he also refused to let us sponge him. We could only do so gently when he was asleep. No choice, the next morning at 4+am, we decided to send him to KKH A&E to see a doctor. At KKH, his temperature had climbed to 39.4 deg...
The nurse immediately gave him panadol though he cried and cried. The poor baby was so scared... He had never been so sick before. Almost all the patients at the A&E had high fever. Everybody was given water and sponge to sponge the children to keep their temperature down while the panadol took effect.
The A&E doctor told us that this flu season was horrible. 40 patients each day and 95% of them were flu accompanied by high fever. The fever can go as high as 40 - 41 deg... Hence, there was no alarm for temperature around 39 deg. We were given medicine again but this time, it was twice the dosage Doc Liew gave. We were also given medical certificate for 5 days for us to take childcare leave. :o
Then Dardar caught the flu bug and then Tungtung. We sent Tungtung to see Doc Liew too. She was given medicine for her fever but not her cough. She was too young and medicine was toxic. Hence, she didnt encourage giving too much medicine.
So far so good? After so many nights, their fever had managed to go down. However, I am still observing them and hope that their fever will stay down for good. Hope everybody will get well soon... They are still fighting the cough. Missed the lively them, I like it best when they are healthy and happy!
